Picador 20 WP
Description
Systemic herbicide with efficiency against a wide range of variety of broadleaf weeds and sedges
Active substance:
Chlorimuron Ethyl 100 g/kg + Metsulfuron Methyl 100 g/kg
Preparative form:
Wettable powderChemical class:
SulfonulureasAdvantages
- Picador 20 WP has a synergistic effect between the active ingredients Chlorimuron Ethyl and Metsulfuron Methyl. When used together, these two active ingredients often exhibit a synergistic effect, meaning their combined weed control efficacy is greater than the sum of their individual effects
- Picador 20 WP is primarily used as post-emergence herbicides, allowing for targeted application after weeds have emerged, which can be more efficient and economical
- Both Chlorimuron Ethyl and Metsulfuron Methyl are systemic herbicides, meaning they are absorbed by the plant and translocated throughout its tissues, ensuring effective control of the entire weed
- Picador 20 WP is effective at relatively low application rates, reducing the amount of application and bringing down the cost of the final produce
Spectrum of action
Both active ingredients in Picador 20 WP - Chlorimuron Ethyl and Metsulfuron Methyl belong to the sulfonylurea herbicide family. This means they share similar mode of action: Inhibition of Acetolactate Synthase (ALS) - They disrupt the plant's ability to build essential proteins, effectively shutting down its growth processes.
ALS Enzyme: ALS is a crucial enzyme in plants responsible for producing branched-chain amino acids (valine, leucine, and isoleucine). These amino acids are essential building blocks for plant proteins
- Disruption: Chlorimuron Ethyl and Metsulfuron Methyl interfere with ALS, preventing it from functioning properly
- Protein Synthesis Stop: With ALS blocked, the plant can't produce these vital amino acids, halting protein synthesis
- Growth Halt: Without proteins, the plant's growth is severely disrupted, leading to stunted development, and eventually, death of the weeds
Instructions for use
Picador 20 WP is a herbicide applied post-emergence, meaning after the weeds have germinated and are actively growing. Higher dosage rates within the range should be used when the weeds are older and more established in the specific growth stage.
